Although we live in a "disposable world," this mindset does not have to include our bikes. Yes, the technology used in the bicycle industry has evolved at a blinding pace, but does that make yesterday’s technology obsolete? I think not!

Frame materials have changed dramatically over the years; however, the basic design has been with us since the invention of the bike. Some say, "steel is passe." Yet, in today’s high-tech bicycle market, independent frame builders continue to thrive producing steel frames. Why? When you are just starting to feel like you can ride; pounding through a late February 60-miler—nothing beats the feel of steel!

Your old aluminum frame doesn’t have fancy carbon seat stays and she rides a little stiff, but if you think back—and remember—you won a few "crits" on her anyway. Are you getting my point? Are you feeling the love? Revive your passion; paint the damn frame!....
